The radial arm saw was invented by Raymond E. Dewalt in 1922. The original Dewalt radial arm saw was produced for many years until its modification in the mid to late 1930s. Even though Dewalt sold the line to AMF in 1948 the saw was still produced to the same exacting standards under the name AMF Dewalt.
Somewhere around 1960 the entire line was sold to B & D. In 1990 B & D stopped manufacturing the Dewalt radial arm saw. They sold the entire radial arm saw operation to Lancaster Saw Company but kept the Dewalt name. A year later Lancaster went bankrupt and the casting designs were purchased by The Original Saw Company of Britt, Iowa. Original Saw continues to produce high quality radial arm saws in the larger sizes identical to the old Dewalts.
